To use RocketDMS in multi-user mode you must have a document store that is accessible to all PCs and users across your network. For more information see: Multi-user Installation (Overview)

You are free to use any SQL and Subversion server that is already available within your organisation or you can install a server just for RocketDMS. 

To help you get started with installing your own we have provided a simple package to help with the installation and configuration of MySQL and Subversion servers onto a Windows server or PC. This back-end installer does not contain our own software. It just encapsulates and assists with the installation of these third-party packages:

• MySQL.
• SVN server from Collabnet
• VisualSVN

To install a basic multi-user back-end based on these three technologies, download and run the Backend Installer package on the PC or server that is to be the back-end server. :

Back-end Installer Package

This installer will:

• Guide you through the download of the full MySQL and SVN server packages (approximately 50MB).
• Do a base installation of these packages.
• Set a root password on the MySQL server. It is VERY important that you do not lose this root password.
• Create a SQL database for RocketDMS to use.
• Create a Subversion repository for RocketDMS to use for document version control.
• Create a connection profile to be used by the main RocketDMS client program for connection to the back-end server.

Please note: There are many things that we can not build into an installer. For a fully functioning and properly performing server you may have to check for local environment issues that include:

• Firewall settings.
• Anti-virus settings.
• Administrator and write permissions.
• Naming conventions.
• Host names and domain name service settings on your network.
• Available drives and space.
